Drain and set aside. In a pan, heat oil and fry thinly sliced onions until golden brown. Remove half for garnish. In the remaining oil, sauté ginger-garlic paste until fragrant. Add meat pieces and brown them. Mix in ground turmeric, cumin, and coriander. Add plain yogurt and cook until the meat is tender. In a separate pot, layer partially cooked rice and the meat mixture, repeating until both are used up. Garnish with fried onions. Cover and cook on low heat until the rice is fully cooked and infused with flavors.
